Honouring National Indigenous Peoples Day across our operations in Canada

Topic: Community / Corporate

June 21 marks National Indigenous Peoples Day—an opportunity to celebrate the rich cultures, languages and traditions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples across Canada. At Eldorado Gold, we take this opportunity to reflect on our responsibility to foster respectful relationships and strengthen collaboration with Indigenous Peoples where we operate.

Eldorado Gold Saskatchewan

At Eldorado Gold Saskatchewan (EGS), National Indigenous Peoples Day is marked through a series of initiatives that celebrate culture while reinforcing our commitment to reconciliation. This includes the following:

  • At our McIlvenna Bay site, employees came together to share a meal inspired by Indigenous culinary traditions—an opportunity to recognize the cultural significance of food as a way to connect, learn and reflect. The day wrapped up with staff games, featuring prizes adorned with Indigenous artwork.
  • In Flin Flon, Manitoba, EGS is proud to support National Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations organized by the Flin Flon Aboriginal Friendship Centre. Our sponsorship helps bring the community together, and our employee volunteers were on site to assist and serve food—contributing a day of celebration, connection and respect.
Eldorado Gold Québec

At Eldorado Gold Québec (EGQ), our team recognizes that we operate on unceded traditional Anicinabek territory. Since the beginning of our presence in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, we have been committed to building respectful, meaningful and long-term relationships with the local Indigenous communities.

Over the past year, this commitment has taken shape through several collaborative initiatives:

  • EGQ is proud to contribute to the creation of Tesabidan, a cultural and educational space at the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT) campus in Val-d’Or. Developed through extensive collaboration, this gathering place supports cultural exchange, social learning and reconciliation.
  • In partnership with Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue and other mining sector partners, EGQ is participating in the research project “Strategies for Creating Anicinapek Service Businesses in the Mining Sector.” This work aims to support the participation of the Abitibiwinni First Nation in economic opportunities and increase social and economic benefits for the Abitibiwinnik.
  • Last September, EGQ launched a series of educational videos on Indigenous realities, produced by CRÉA Kitci Amik. More than 520 employees participated in this initiative.
  • EGQ continues to work toward formal collaboration agreements with the Anishnabe Nation of Lac Simon and the community of Kitcisakik, helping to advance long-term collaboration based on shared goals.
Moving forward together

National Indigenous Peoples Day is a reminder of the importance of listening, learning and working together to build a more inclusive future.

Across our operations in Canada, our actions reflect a shared commitment to respect and collaborate with local Indigenous communities and partners. We value the relationships we are building and the knowledge and perspectives shared with us along the way. Together, we are fostering relationships rooted in trust, collaboration and shared values.
