A commitment to health and safety: the Golden Rules Handbook

Topic: Sustainability / Corporate

Protecting the health and safety of our employees, contractors, suppliers and communities is our first priority and a cornerstone of our operating philosophy – nothing is more important. We are focused on driving an engaged, health and safety-first culture as part of our commitment to eliminating serious injuries and fatalities. Health and safety is everyone’s responsibility.

In 2017, we released our Golden Rules Health & Safety Handbook, which identifies high-risk and safety-sensitive activities. Every person entering an Eldorado site – employees, contractors, visitors or otherwise – is required to carry a copy of the Golden Rules Health & Safety Handbook.

The Golden Rules cover:

10 Golden Rules

The Golden Rules Health & Safety Handbook is an important tool to help workers identify and manage critical health and safety hazards and risks.

The handbook outlines mandatory actions related to health and safety including critical risks that are common across our global operations. When it comes to the health and safety of our people, we can never take our guard down. Our strategy aims to balance strong technical programs with positive safety leadership culture. Our Golden Rules are in place to help us think through tasks before we execute work to ensure we are not harmed and that we are not going to harm others.

We continuously look to strengthen our safety culture by taking a holistic view towards safety leadership and engaging with front-line workers. A culture of safety means that each individual values their own safety and the safety of those around them.
