World Day for Safety and Health at work: Creating a Healthy Psychosocial Working Environment
Today, we recognize World Day for Safety and Health at Work, a global initiative dedicated to promoting safe and healthy workplaces. This year's theme is focused on fostering a healthy psychosocial working environment. Psychosocial factors strongly influence how work is experienced and affect workers’ safety, health and performance. The International Labour Organization defines psychosocial factors as workload and working time, role clarity, autonomy, support, and fair and transparent processes.
The World Day for Safety and Health at Work is a day to reflect on our performance, and acknowledge that injuries and hazards are real and present in our operations. Over the past few years, we have strengthened our strategy, with increased attention on identifying hazards with the potential to cause serious injuries or fatalities and effective management of risks. We’ve made improvements, but the journey must continue to improve our performance.
We have several programs and initiatives in place to support the well-being of our workforce. We’ve made progress in advancing our culture of care, by building a personal connection to health and safety practices through programs like Courageous Safety Leadership (CSL), and the Global Health and Safety Positive Recognition Award program.

Courageous Safety Leadership Workshop
Our CSL program encourages participants to reflect on their beliefs, behaviours, attitudes, speak up about risks and support each other in living our vision of “Going Home Healthy and Safe Every Day.” In 2025, we launched the program globally across our operations and 25% of our workforce participated in the workshop by the end of the year with implementation continuing through 2026. These one-day sessions brought together employees and contractors from various departments and roles, fostering a deeper understanding of the impact of personal beliefs, attitudes and behaviors on health and safety.
We introduced a Health and Safety Positive Recognition Awards program in late 2024, to recognize and showcase people demonstrating courageous safety leadership across our organization. Each quarter, individuals and teams are nominated for their efforts to go above and beyond with positive health and safety practices. In 2025, four team members were awarded global recognition, with awards continuing in 2026.
By living our corporate values, we’re striving to create an environment that encourages conversations on workload, practice methods, role clarity, and transparency to support the health and safety of our teams. Through our health and safety initiatives, we want to empower our workforce to personally commit to strong health and safety practices, take care of each other, and demonstrate courage to enable a healthy psychosocial working environment.
