Sustainability from the Ground Up: 2024 Sustainability Report

Topic: Sustainability / Corporate

At Eldorado Gold, we integrate sustainable practices into every aspect of our business. From prioritizing the safety and well-being of our employees to fostering lasting relationships with our host communities, our dedication to doing things the right way is reflected in the achievements we celebrate today.

Today, we’re proud to release our 13th annual Sustainability Report. This report highlights the progress made on our goals this year, including reaching key milestones on initiatives that will drive us forward, creating value today and for future generations.

In recognition of our efforts, we were humbled to receive a number of external award recognitions in 2024. At the annual Euromines Safety Awards, our team received a Silver Safety Award for our innovative virtual and augmented reality training programs. In Greece, Hellas Gold also received an award from the Hellenic Institute for Occupational Health & Safety for our preventative medical check-up program. The team also received a Bronze Award for Gender & Inclusion at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Sustainability Awards.

Across our global mining operations, we apply Mining Association of Canada’s Towards Sustainable Mining (MAC-TSM) protocols, including Canada as a mandatory requirement as a member of MAC, and in Greece and Türkiye voluntarily. In 2024, we completed integrated compliance verifications for our Sustainability Integrated Management System (SIMS) and MAC-TSM at our Kışladağ and Efemçukuru mines in Türkiye. We are proud of our results, with a minimum A score across all indicators. Our Efemçukuru mine achieved AAA scores for tailings management, health & safety, biodiversity, and Indigenous and community relationships. At Kışladağ, we received an AAA score for all Health and Safety indicators.

Last year, we also introduced exciting new technologies that will not only improve health, safety and sustainability, but also contribute to a better business and, most importantly, a better world. At our Lamaque Complex, we added a second electric ore haul truck to our fleet, which is expected to mitigate up to 1,700 tCO2e of GHG emissions per year, once fully operational. Lamaque is already our lowest GHG-emitting operational mine, benefiting from Quebec’s abundance of hydroelectricity and the implementation of on-site energy efficiency projects.
