Evolving Together: Reflections on Growth, Integration, and the Future of Exploration: An Interview with Çağlar Acimaz
After many years with Tüprag, Eldorado’s subsidiary in Türkiye, Çağlar Acimaz, Exploration Projects Group Manager, has seen the Company — and the field of exploration itself — transform in ways that continue to inspire his work every day. From extending mine life to embracing new technology, his journey reflects both the challenges and the possibilities that define exploration in Türkiye.

Lessons from the field: Persistence pays off
One of the defining moments in Çağlar’s career was the extension of mine life through discoveries at the Kokarpınar and West veins at Efemçukuru . These successes didn’t come easily — they required patience, detailed fieldwork, multi-dimensional data analysis, and the determination to keep moving even when results weren’t initially encouraging.
“Those moments taught us that with discipline, teamwork, and a refusal to give up, our targets are absolutely achievable,” he says. “With each new season, the team expands its knowledge, sharpens its approach, and channels its energy into delivering value for the Company.”

A stronger connection between exploration and mining geology
Over the years, exploration and mine geology have become increasingly integrated — a shift that is reshaping Eldorado’s approach to resource development.
This connection creates a continuous feedback loop: exploration data now flows directly into mine planning, engineering, metallurgy, and resource modeling from the earliest stages. The result is clearer geological models, better economic decisions, and reduced uncertainty.
It also strengthens adaptability. As new data emerges, teams can quickly adjust plans, optimize drilling, and ensure that long- and short-term strategies reflect real field conditions. Just as importantly, this collaboration supports responsible development by integrating environmental, social, and operational considerations long before production begins.

A culture growing smarter, safer, and more connected
During his time at Tüprag, Çağlar has watched the Company embrace new technologies and a more holistic exploration philosophy. Tools like Leapfrog, satellite imagery, real-time data systems, and advanced geophysics now allow the team to update models within minutes and make faster, more informed decisions.
Field-based emergency drills, better communication systems, and stronger sustainability practices reflect the evolution of Eldorado’s culture as well — one that balances innovation with safety, community engagement, and long-term responsibility.
What makes Çağlar proud is being part of this transformation.
“We’ve become more innovative and forward-thinking while remaining grounded in our core value of integrity and our commitment to safety and respect,” he says. Helping strengthen education in local communities — and watching those communities become part of the Company’s talent pipeline — adds to that pride.
Working harmoniously with local communities and earning social license to operate, he notes, is essential: “Keeping our promises and acting with sincerity is how we build trust that lasts.

Looking ahead: A future full of possibility
From Çağlar ‘s vantage point, the future of exploration and resource geology at Eldorado is bright. The Company is making a clear strategic shift toward long-term growth supported by technology, multidisciplinary collaboration, and stronger geological understanding.
Machine learning, integrated modeling, real-time data, and enhanced geometallurgy are giving teams clearer visibility into mineralization and helping them anticipate variability earlier and with greater accuracy.
But what excites him most is the opportunity to grow Eldorado’s presence in Türkiye: “We are working with determination to discover a third — and eventually many more — mines alongside Kışladağ and Efemçukuru.
Driven by expertise, energy, and a shared belief in what’s possible, the team continues moving forward — one dataset, one discovery, and one breakthrough at a time.
